6 Front Door Colours and What They Say About You

November 3, 2015 By Debbie Palic

Your front door is the first thing guests see when they visit your home. For this reason, ensure that the colour of your door gives the feeling and impression that you are after. Before selecting the colour for your front door consider my 6 colour examples and there psychological meanings.

(1)  Red

A red door will welcome your guests and bring luck. People who select red doors usually are social and enjoy attention.  This warm colour will give the impression that the household is full of life, energy and excitement.

(2)  Black

A black front door indicates that this household is a serious place inhabited by a person of substance. A black door will communicate strength, sophistication, power and authority.

(3)  Blue

A home with a blue front door indicates that the people who live here enjoy peace and value truth. The homeowner views his or her home as a place of refuge. Your guests sense that they are entering a calm and clean home. A Turquoise blue door symbolises that the homeowner is a romantic dreamer and believes that everything is possible.

(4)  White

A white front door will make your guest feel that they are entering a home that is simple, organised and clean.

(5)  Yellow

A positive energy is experienced when your guest enters a yellow door. Psychologically speaking, a yellow door will indicate that this homeowner is a logical and creative person who has a positive attitude.

(6)  Brown

A timber door or brown painted door will make guests feel welcome as brown conveys warmth, stability, and positivity. Although, dark shades of brown can convey a desire for privacy.
